Over the past few years we have successfully cleared up local eyesores across the whole of Shetland and removed tonnes of potentially hazardous material for safe disposal. We are licensed waste carriers and operate a fully licensed waste and scrap metal processing facility in Lerwick that is regularly inspected by SEPA.
Often the material is mainly metal and there is the potential for the project to pay for itself and generate surplus cash for the landowner.
During the recent boom in scrap prices many unlicensed metal dealers appeared in Shetland promising quick returns for your unwanted metal. After picking out the high value material they usually left behind a pile of other wastes and and created pollution problems by bursting fuel and oil tanks. The metal was not weighed and the money paid did not represent its true value....if the payment was ever received.
Although we specialise in the recovery of scrap metal we do not leave behind the wood, plastic, glass or harmful materials that can harm wildlife, people or livestock or continue to damage the natural environment. We make every effort to reinstate sites to a safe and attractive condition for the benefit of everyone.
All material removed from site is weighed and the value of the material recovered is fully accounted for in a transparent manner.
