About us
60 North Recycling Ltd was formed from a management buyout in 2001 and took over the waste management assets of SOES Ltd (formerly Layfields of Lerwick)
The business has operated on this site since the late 1970s and built up a track record serving the Shetland community and the oil and gas industry during this time.
We are based in Lerwick in Shetland and value the clean seas and high quality environment that are so important to our local community.
We do our best to protect and enhance this environment by collecting, depolluting and processing redundant structures, end of life equipment and vehicles in a responsible and safe manner.

Many of our workforce have been with us since 60 North Recycling Ltd was formed although we have added key personnel to strengthen our ability to meet project specific and emerging industry requirements when necessary.
Our management team has over 30 years operating, quality and regulatory experience in the waste industry and we put this to use to protect the interests and reputation of all our clients.

Recent Projects / Contracts
FRIGG MCP01 Decommissioning – Segregation, rehandling and processing of approximately 7000 tonnes piece small material and mixed wastes.
FRIGG MSF Decommissioning – Segregation, size reduction, rehandling and load out of 10000 tonnes processed steel.
LINNHE Decommissioning – Reception and processing of subsea protection structures.
BP / KDC Sullom Voe Terminal - Reception and load out of all demolition materials arising from on-site decommissioning, clearance and refurbishment.
Telecom – Demolition, processing, segregation and removal of 10, 35 metre offshore radio relay dishes from remote and challenging site at Scousburgh, Shetland.
Vessel Decommissioning – Depollution, preparation and dismantling of 80 tonne trawler,250 tonne beam trawler, 160 tonne barge and 2x 440 tonne ferries.
Skip services – Provision of approx 1000 skips per annum to Shetland Islands Council
Landed Ships Waste Service – Operation of landed ships waste service to all Lerwick quaysides for Lerwick Port Authority.
